Those of you that know me and have been in TheShop this week have seen that I am back in San Francisco. I was over here for the first 6 weeks to help get the shop going. This time a came back to see the friends I made last time and see how things are progressing.
Seeing the members I helped sign up was fun. It was good to see their projects progressing and new ones starting. The staff is growing and starting to get into a solid rhythm. Things are progressing well. You can even open the parking lot gate with the RFID tag. That has to make the front desk team happy.
And is was good to see Dan was carrying through with his promises to bring in new equipment.
The 3rd floor has undergone quite a transformation to make space for the new equipment. There’s a new Mat Cutter that looks like a lot of fun. I’ve heard people talking about what they want to try on it. It is a drag knife so it has lots of possibilities. It sounds like it works very well for cutting fabric. I can see my wife making giant appliques for her quilting on it.
And for you laser fans, there is a giant (40x28) Epilog CO2 laser about to get hooked up. That thing is giant.
And things are changing on the first floor as well. That shiny new Piranha Iron Worker will add some capabilities the hasn’t had in the past. It’s not here yet but there is a big hole in the wall for what I assume is exhaust. It should be the next big addition.
I plan on staying most of this week so I would love to see more of you stop by and say hi.
