This is the first of a two-part series on the TRAK lathe. The TRAK lathe is a turning machine capable of operation in both manual and CNC modes. It is powerful and easy to use with a variety of tooling, and is capable of repeatably and efficiently producing very complex parts. This course is intended to teach manual proficiency and some basics of machining theory. Users will walk away with a finished part of our design, completed entirely in manual mode.
This class covers safety and basic operation of the machine in manual mode, including setting and changing tools for a variety of cut types, absolute and incremental movements using the DRO, and operation of the control system for the TRAK lathe.
Course length is 3 hours. Material provided.
This course earns users access to the machine in manual mode only. The second part in this series (TRAK Lathe CNC Proficiency) will cover use of the machine’s CNC mode, making the same part to illustrate the similarities and differences between it and the manual mode. Manual proficiency is required before entering the course for CNC proficiency.
