Slice, dice, and serve in style on this attractive walnut and maple tray. We’ll show you how to dimension and cut the parts, dry fit them together and scribe the arc for the curved edges, and glue the parts together before finishing the project.
This class is two sessions long: in the first session we will go over wood shop safety and machine operation, then cut and glue the trays together. In the second session we will rout the edges and smooth the surfaces, then go over finishing techniques with the first coats of oil and wax. The instructor will guide you through the remaining finishing steps to be done at home to complete your beautiful new kitchen object.
To add some personalization to your serving tray, register for an extra hour of laser engraving instruction! We will take your finished trays into the laser room to engrave or etch your favorite design into the tray.
The class is project-based, but also covers basic safety training equivalent to our Wood Safety 1 class.
Course length is 4.5 hours over two days: Saturday is 2.5 hours, Sunday is 2 hours with an optional hour of laser engraving at the end.
