The TRAK mill is a milling machine capable of operating in both manual and 2-axis CNC modes to repeatably and efficiently producing complex parts in a variety of metals and plastics. This course is intended to teach some basics of machining theory and manual proficiency on the mill before introducing the CNC mode.
Users will walk away with two nearly identical parts of our design: one completed entirely in manual mode, and the second produced using the CNC mode to illustrate the similarities and differences in working with the two modes.
This class covers safety and basic operation of the machine in TRAKing and CNC modes, including RPM adjustment, working in absolute and incremental modes using the digital readout, setting tools and work coordinates in the controls, writing a simple program, adjusting offsets, and machining of a simple part.
Course length is 3 hours. Material is provided.
